Buttercup Yellow Reassembled Ring Teapot
This is my third yellow Reassembled Ring Teapot. It is made from a trapezoidal cross-section hollow ring, though not as narrow a profile as the first one I made, “Yellow Trapezoidal Cross-Section Reassembled Ring Teapot.” The third yellow Teapot is “Lemon Yellow Triangular Cross-Section Reassembled Ring Teapot,” which was chosen for the “First World Ceramic Biennale 2001 Korea International Competition.” In this Buttercup Yellow Reassembled Ring Teapot composition I was trying a variation on the stacked/layered arc sections composition seen in my “Orange 5-pointed Star Cross-Section Reassembled Ring Teapot.” I made the lid finial as a see-through reflection or “second eye” of the trapezoid end profile seen on the top of the arc section second from the right in the photo. I particularly like the way the farthest left arc section (with handle and lid) sweeps down to the oval base supporting the stack of four arc sections to the right. The very pale yellow color comes from first pouring our opaque glossy white glaze on the Teapot, painting the edges with wax resist to block the yellow glaze and enhance the white edge features, then dipping in our glossy yellow glaze as a second layer. I am very pleased with this Teapot composition!
