I made my first Reassembled Ring Teapot in 1995, and attached a Keel-Billed Toucan figure to the lid. In an unfortunate accident I broke it by backing the car over a box containing that Teapot, thinking I had completed packing up work from an exhibition. I subsequently made this Teapot to replace the first one, because I love the unusual shape of this endangered Central American bird's bill, and I wanted to challenge my skills in modeling, and glazing this colorful animal. It took as long to make and complete the bird as to make the teapot! I think it is an improvement over the first broken Keel-Billed Toucan Reassembled Ring Teapot, which I epoxy-glued back together to study and continue to learn from.
