Loop De Loop
Reassembled Ring Teapot

My concept for this Teapot was to join two Rings together in a spiral, reminiscent of a segment of a stretched slinky.  I threw two nearly-identical hollow rings on the potter’s wheel, allowed them to set up, then sliced each one vertically and lifted one side up to make each ring into the spiral segment, which I would then join together.  Unfortunately for my original concept, the Rings were a little too thick, and I was concerned that if I stretched them too far they would split or crack.

When I joined the two rings together, they touched each other in the center of each ring.  I decided to go ahead with this assembly and try again later with a future set of identical cross-section Rings, stretching out each cut Ring more to make a true “Expanded-Slinky-Segments" Curly Reassembled Ring Teapot.  I haven’t made that Teapot yet, but completed this “Loop De Loop Reassembled Ring Teapot” with a handbuilt spout, twisted ring lid finial and larger twisted-ring attached Teapot handle.
